Group of people pulling in the same direction 150 years ago corporation were relatively insignificant and were originally chartered by state to perform specific functions-(bridge building or railways) Bound by many regulations relatively insignificant Today it is dominant, unrivalled influence and all pervasive like the church, the monarchy, and the communist party, If it is legally a person what kind of person is he/she  trying to understand the pathology of commerce  

 

No matter your perceptions today the corporation or companies are our most dominant institutions of our times this presents both an opportunity and a threat!

 

What is happening 

A shift of power from the state to a multiplicity of individuals and SMES (corporations) Growing importance of technology The Chinese, South African, Kenyan and Indian question Suppliers Competitors for top jobs Entrepreneurs Market  
Yet the scale is tipped against Uganda and many African  countries; unequal terms or sheer short-sightedness  

Where is it happening 

Stuck in the mud Ugandans, and certainly not Uganda00 generation next  is not positioned to take advantages in the new world order. Indian firms already a major source for professional services: report writing, analysis, accounting, & customer service through call centres China a major location for out sourcing and off shore operations with their European and American power Africa provider of raw materials and major purchaser of finished high price products- we remain pawns on the global scene; minnows!  

Cannibals and Management 

A big corporation hired several cannibals. "You are all part of our team now," said the HR manager during the welcome briefing. "You get all the usual benefits and you can go to the cafeteria for something to eat, but please don't eat any of the other employees." The cannibals promised they would not. A few weeks later the cannibals' boss remarked, "You're all working very hard, and I'm satisfied with you. However, one of our secretaries has disappeared. Do any of you know what happened to her?" The cannibals all shook their heads, "No," they said. After the boss left, the leader of the cannibals said to the others angrily, "Right, which one of you idiots ate the secretary?"
