enacted by the Congress of the United States as they relate to print and non-print
materials. Adopted: 5/94 Page 1 of 4 DFF-Copyright Guidelines for Copyright Administrative Guidelines I. Single Copying/Individuals A single copy may be made of any of the following by an individual for his or her
scholarly research or use in teaching or preparation to teach a class: A. A chapter from a book
B. An article from a periodical or newspaper
C. A short story, short essay, or short poem whether or not from a collective work D. A chart, graph, diagram, drawing, cartoon, or picture from a book, periodical, or newspaper. II. Prohibitions to the Above A. Copying shall not be used to create or to replace or substitute for anthologies, compilations, or collective works. B. There shall be no copying of works intended to be consumable in the course of study or of teaching. These include workbooks, exercises, standardized
tests, test booklets, answer sheets, and like consumable material. C. Copying shall not 1. Substitute for the purchase of books, publishers reprints or periodicals 2. Be repeated with respect to the same item by the same teacher from term to term III. Off-Air Copying Guidelines A. A broadcast program may be recorded off-air simultaneously with broadcast transmission (including simultaneous cable re-transmission) and retained for a
period not to exceed for-five (45) calendar days after date of recording. Upon
conclusion of such retention period, all off-air recordings must be erased or
destroyed. Broadcast programs are television programs transmitted by
television stations for reception by the general public without charge. Page 2 of 4 DFF-Copyright Off-Air Copying Guidelines B. Off-air recordings may be used once by individual teachers in the course of relevant teaching activities, and repeated once only when instructional
reinforcement is necessary, in classroom and similar places devoted to
instruction. C. Off-air recordings may be made only at the request of individual teachers for their own use and may not be regularly recorded in anticipation of requests.
No broadcast program may be recorded off-air more than once at the request
of the same teacher, regardless of the number of times the program may be
broadcast. D. A limited number of copies may be reproduced from each off-air recording to meet the legitimate needs of teachers under these guidelines. Each such
additional copy shall be subject to all provisions governing the original
recording. E. After the first ten consecutive school days, off-air recordings may be used up to the end of the forty-five (45) calendar day retention period only for teacher
evaluation purposes, i.e., to determine whether or not to include the broadcast
program in the teaching curriculum. They may not be used in the recording
institution for the students exhibition or other evaluation purpose without
authorization. F. Off-air recordings need not be used in their entirety, but the recorded programs may not be altered from their original content. Off-air recordings
may not be physically or electronically combined or merged to constitute
teacher anthologies or compilations. G. All copies of off-air recordings must include the copyright notice on the broadcast program as recorded. H. Reference to copyright law shall be displayed in any facility in the Trumbull Public Schools where videotaping shall take place. IV. Computer Software Guidelines A. Copies of computer software may be made only with the permission of the publisher. B. Single copies of software may not be loaded into several machines without the permission of the publisher. Page 3 of 4 DFF-Copyright Computer Software Guidelines C. Any person or group using school facilities, other than during regular school hours, will agree in writing to adhere to the Copyright Act. D. No software or equipment which is specifically designed to break protection codes built into software, may be purchased or used within the Trumbull
Public Schools, unless such software exists as part of a licensing agreement. E. Reference to Copyright Law shall be prominently displayed in all facilities where computer hardware is available to general student and public use. NOTE: These guidelines have been provided for your reference. If a more
detailed interpretation of the copyright Laws is required refer to the
Copyright Manual located in the main office and library of each school,

Scholarship/Ownership Policy Adopted: 5/94 Page 4 of 4 TRUMBULL PUBLIC SCHOOLS PROPERTY AGREEMENT As a condition, and in consideration of my employment by the Trumbull Board of
Education (here-in after referred to as the employer) I, the employee named below, agree
as follows: 1. I will not, either during or after my employment, use, publish or otherwise disclose, except for the employers benefit in the course of such employment,
any technical, business or other proprietary information developed by, for or at
the expense of the employer, or assigned or entrusted to the employer, unless
such information is generally known outside of the employer; and I will deliver
to or leave with the employer all written and other materials containing such
information upon termination of employment. (Example: Curriculum materials,
floppy disks, etc.) 2. I agree that all works or authorship (including illustrations, writing, software and computer programs), and all other business or technical information created
or conceived by me, either alone or with others while employed by the
employer and related to the existing or contemplated business of the employer
or resulting from work with the employer, and related to my area of assignment,
accomplished during the normal school day, using the employers equipment,
belong to the employer. This agreement supersedes all prior oral or written agreements and is effective with
respect to other subject matter hereof subsequent to the date executed. This agreement
does not alter nor shall it be deemed to alter, the employment relationship, whether at will
