> OAS 15 Sept 06   A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O 1 Department of Interior       2 Office of Aircraft Services       3 Approved Position Descriptions as of 12/11/07       4                               5                               6 Notes pertaining to the PD listing:                             7                               8   This list must NOT be used as documentation of coverage of a PD.  A PD is covered ONLY when an approval certification or letter is signed by either the DOI Special Retirement Designee, or by the Office of Personnel Management.  If you have a PD and a coverage certification that is not on this list, please notify us.  If there are errors in our list please send us a note of the error, with supporting documentation.  If you do not have a copy of the coverage certification for one of your current PDs, please contact us and we will provide you with a copy.       9                               10   In some cases, you will see more than one PD listed with the same position number/organization code.  The most current version of the PD should be used.       11                               12   If the PD is rewritten, or if the major duties, title, series, grade, position number, or classification date change, then the PD must be submitted to the FLERT office for a new DOI decision.        13                               14   If you establish a statement of differences (SOD) at the next lower grade of an already covered PD, you MUST submit the SOD/Amendment for approval. FLERT will review and prepare a new coverage certification documenting all grade levels.  (It is encouraged to establish the SOD at the time the initial PD is developed to streamline the coverage process.)          15                               16   Remember, employees in PDs that are NOT covered who think they should be covered must file an individual request within 6 months (for FERS) or 1 year (for CSRS) of entering the PD.  If a PD is not on this list, it is not covered.       17                               18   The Certification of Position Approval must be filed on the permanent (right-hand) side of the incumbent00 OPF, in accordance with OPM00 CSRS/FERS Handbook, Chapter 46, Section 46A3.2-1(A).  If there is no coverage documentation for a PD, then the PD is not covered.  (An individual00 coverage in a position, based on approval of his/her individual claim, DOES NOT cover his/her PD).        19                               20 The codes on the PD list have the following meanings: S/A = Secondary Administrative; S/SP = Secondary-Supervisory; P/R= Primary/Rigorous; FF= Firefighter; LEO= Law Enforcement Officer       21                               22 Anytime a change is made to a PD,  whether it00 a standard/benchmark or not, the PD needs to come through the FLERT office for a determination for special retirement coverage.  This also includes standard/benchmark PDs with assigned bureau-specific PD numbers. Having each number on file makes it easier for individual claims to be processed.  FLERT maintains a database of all PDs within DOI that have been submitted for special retirement coverage.       23                               24 VISIT OUR WEBSITE AT: http://www.doi.gov/training/flert/ This is a web-based training that covers just about everything you want to know about firefighter and law enforcement special retirement.  Please share with other SPO's, supervisors and FF/LEO employees.  The training is in three sections, one FERS, one CSRS, and one part on general program administration.  All three sections are recommended for personnelists and supervisors of FF/LEOs.  FF/LEO employees should take the FERS or CSRS section, which ever is applicable to them.   In addition to the web-based training, there is a 00ext only version00located on the main page.       25 Pos.
