NEWS RELEASE NEWS RELEASE Phillip Linson Named Vice Dean, Production and Post Production of the AFI Conservatory LOS ANGELES, CA, February 5, 2003The American Film Institute (AFI) announced that Phillip Linson has been named Vice Dean, Production and Post Production of the AFI Conservatory. In this capacity, Linson will have oversight of all AFI Conservatory Production and Post Production operations, staff, planning and resource development. For the past three years Linson, as Director of the Sony Video Center, has made major contributions to the Center and to the overall development of its post- production resources and systems. He will continue as Senior Filmmaker-in- Residence, Post Production. Phillip Linsons professional career stretches over various aspects of film and television production and post-production. He worked with Agnes Varda and Haskel Wexler on documentaries and was later the associate editor on Wexlers feature film LATINO. His film editing credits include DEADFALL, AFTER MIDNIGHT, and Sean Penns THE INDIAN RUNNER; and his sound editing credits include HOT SHOTS; TOMBSTONE; and GAS, FOOD AND LODGING. In addition, he helped produce the Finnish film LENNINGRAD COWBOYS GO AMERICA. Linson joined AFI in the fall of 1999 as Director of the AFI Sony Video Center. His previous teaching credentials include two years at the North Carolina School of the Arts, School of Filmmaking.
