a recommendation was made to establish training certification for those
of you working in research administration that would provide a framework
of information for what and how to conduct the financial and administrative
aspects of research at UNC-CH and provide administrative benefits to
those certified in certain aspects of research administration.
The first level class many of you have
already taken and we have 73 folks enrolled to begin the program in
November. The Tar Heel Certificate Program in Research Administration
curriculum has been revised for this up-coming series to focus even
more on the regulations that govern research administration and the
roles and responsibilities of the campus and the central offices. Participants
who complete the entire program will receive a certificate of completion
and will qualify to test for Level 1 Certification.
A Competency Test has been developed
as part of the THCP. Those who pass the test will receive Level
1 Certification which serves as the prerequisite to Level II Certification.
For those of you who have already completed the Tar Heel Certificate Program, an on-line competency test will be available in January for you to 00est out00to receive Level 1 Certification.
Level II courses are still under development and will begin to be offered in early Spring.
We will continue to offer our regular classes in addition to the Level II curriculum.
