Model Contract Language for EPEAT Updated: 08/07/2007 PURPOSE
The Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT) is the required method of product environmental assessment for desktop computers, laptops and monitors for Federal Electronics Challenge (FEC) Partners. This resource provides model contract language that FEC Partners can use to specify EPEAT-registered products in acquisition and procurement contracts.

Per Executive Order 13423, Strengthening Federal Environmental, Energy, and Transportation Management, section 2(h); the Energy Policy Act of 2005; and the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) subpart 23.703, all computer desktops, laptops, and monitors provided under this contract are required to have achieved Silver registration or higher under the Electronic Products Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT) at the time of bid submission.
EPEAT is a procurement tool designed to help large volume purchasers evaluate, compare, and select electronic products based upon their environmental attributes as specified in the consensus-based IEEE Standard for the Environmental Assessment of Personal Computer Products (1680).
