We would like to ask that if you are able to attend the 9:00am or 1:00pm concert that you please do so. The evening performances are quite busy and we would like to try to fill our daytime performances as much as possible to help alleviate the stress on the seating for our evening performances. Fire department regulations do not allow us to exceed seating limits or to allow standing during performances.
We are also asking that you please bring a canned food item to donate to the food bank on the night of the concert. We are not selling tickets for the show but would like to use this opportunity to donate as much non- perishable food as possible to those in need within our own community.
Angel Tree Gifts
A big thank you goes out to all of
the families in our St. Brigid community who have donated a gift to
our Angel Tree or a financial donation to 00oly Cross Helps.00nbsp;
All Angel Tree gifts must be in by Monday, December 17th
at the absolute latest. The gifts are being picked up on this
day to be distributed to needy children within our own community.
Holy Cross Helps cheques will be picked up Friday.
Anaphylaxis Reminder
This is just another reminder to families
that we have a number of children within our school community with life
threatening allergies to peanuts, tree family nuts (almonds, pecans,
pistachios, walnuts, chestnuts etc.) and other foods and allergens.
It is very important that you do not send nuts and products containing
nuts with your child/children for lunch and snack times.
Holiday Dates and Times
Our last day of school before the Christmas holiday is on Friday, December 21st. This day will be an early dismissal day with the students being dismissed at 1:25pm. Students return to school on Monday, January 7th, 2008.
Ice in School Yard
We have a contract through the school board with Silvercreek Plowing to clear and salt our property. They arrive at about 6:30 am after a night time snowfall to plow and salt. When the temperature drops during the day or if there is more snow or freezing rain they make a second trip. At any time there may be icy patches. Students are reminded of this during daily announcements. When it is very icy, they are kept indoors at recesses.
St. Brigid Winter Rules
Winter00 ice and snow bring many opportunities for fun and play. We have four winter play rules to keep our students safe. They are,
Snow stays on the ground. Children may build forts and snow people but must not throw snow or wash people00 faces with it. There is no running and sliding on ice. Students may play on the snow hills in classes under the supervision of their teacher. There are too many students to allow everyone on the hills at recesses. Respect the snow creations of others. Do not destroy them.Fifth00 Disease
Fifth00 disease is a virus that manifests itself in a rash, particularly on the face. It is contagious during the incubation period before the rash appears. We have had one case of Fifth00 disease in Miss White00 grade 2 class. Fifth00 disease may pose problems for pregnant women.
