The Association reserves the right to make proposals relating to the specific terms and conditions of employment of CAS Members in the Faculty of Education.  If no specific clauses address conditions for CAS Members in the Faculty of Education, the conditions of the Agreement, as amended, apply to these Members as to other CAS Members in the Bargaining Unit00/font>  
 
 
 
 

Article 4: University Rights and General Administration 

4.2 Working Environment:

Provision of office supplies, and other services needed for contractual duties secure, safe and healthy office space adequate for performance of duties including counselling students and secure storage of personal belongings CAS Members teaching as many courses as full-time faculty have equal access to office space provision of health and safety policies and procedures consistent with legislation00/font>

Article 13: Appointment of Part-Time Contract Academic Staff 

Seniority: change in definition of seniority points seniority points = accrued total of all one00 employment as a CAS Member seniority no longer tied to a specific course importance of criteria under 13.5.1(a) to define 00ualifications00/font>

    00/font>the applicant has the requisite academic qualifications for the position, i.e., the relevant academic degree or certificate, education in the academic speciality, and/or the appropriate professional training and experience.00/font> 

00nbsp;13.5.1 (b) & (c) give priority to teaching experience & to Members who taught a course previously 

Members with seniority status and seniority points maintain them under new system  
 
 
 
 

Article 13: Appointment of Part-Time Contract Academic Staff 

Seniority:

    00nbsp;protect Members with seniority status from      bumping by doctoral students and post-docs 

evaluation & process for granting seniority status tighten and clarify timetable of the process shorten time of process for Members subject to a Professional Evaluation  
strengthen University obligation to offer 2 year renewable appointment

Appointment Offer and Making the Process Transparent: specify date by which PTAC makes recommendation to Dean PTAC recommendations reported to department-in-council, copied to the Association set dates by which Dean makes offer if after that date, the Dean fails to make an appointment recommended by PTAC, recommended candidate can claim cancellation fee no requests for text orders or course outlines before letter of appointment issued publicly displayed list of CAS appointments at beginning of term at beginning of the term, the Dean provides the Member with the department seniority list strengthen cancellation fee including first option of alternative employment to Member00/font>  
 
 
 
 

Article 16: Duties, Responsibilities & Workload of CAS Members 

General: supervising, advising and examining grad and undergrad student research and projects to be compensation according to a schedule set out in an Appendix improved language on computer hardware and software for CAS Members maximum number of courses: remains 9 in contract year, but in one term and one term only can teach 4 courses00/font>  
 
 
 
 

Article 16: Duties, Responsibilities & Workload of CAS Members 

Classroom Contact Hours: standard: one term course = 36 hours two term course = 72 hours fewer hours no reduction in pay variations of more hours require approval of the Association 3 tutorial sections = one term course 3 lab sections = one term course one lab or tutorial section = 1/3 course pay languages & literature labs = 6 hours per week00/font>

Larger Classes: marking/grading allowance or assistance for 40-125 students one receives one hour of assistance per student, or $20 per student premium for larger classes under Art. 24 compensation course director of multi-section course = $500 retain language and reporting on student/faculty ratio 23:100/font>

Scholarship and Research: Research Fund = $30,000 grants from $500 to $1500 Research Support Grant = a one term course salary application and adjudication once per year through office of Associate VP: Research and Senate Research Grants Committee fund = 7 x one term course pay Professional Expense Reimbursement $150 annual per one-term course maximum of $50000/font>

Academic and Professional Service: assigned department or other duties approved by the Dean = $50 per hour Academic and Professional Service Fund fund of $25,000 fund administered by Bilateral University/Association Committee which receives recommendations from the Dean/University Librarian to be eligible Member must submit Report of Activities listing contributions value of the award = $50000/font>

Article 23: Benefits and Pensions 

Health Benefits Plan: WLUFA is consulting with Canadian Health Benefits Consultants Health Benefits Plan (Extended Health and Dental) and possibly other coverage depending on the cost of the plan, it would take one of the following forms: coinsurance 00on a list of benefits the employee pays, submits receipts and the employer reimburses for a share of the cost health spending account 00each Member has a an account which he/she can spend on benefits; any expenditures above the dollars in the account the Member pays00/font>  
 
 
 
 

Article 24: Compensation 

Components of Compensation: the following pay increases retroactive to Sept. 1, 2007 base rate plus pay in lieu of vacation premium for grad courses = $300 remunerations for experience (a grid or step scheme) step one = 3 seniority points accrued in not less than 12 months step two = step one + 3 seniority points accrued in not less than 12 months, or 6 seniority points accrued in not less than 24 months value of a step = 2.5% of the base rate steps to be retroactive to September 1, 200400nbsp;
 
 
 
 
 

Article 24: Compensation 

Supplementary Compensation: Premium for larger classes. 41 0080 students = 5% of the base rate 81 00120 students = 7.5% of the base rate 121+ students = 10% of the base rate other items: supervision student research projects; course director; marking allowance; additional assigned duties ($50 per hour); academic and professional service00/font>  
 
 
 
 

Article 24: Compensation 

Distance Education: base rate (includes vac pay) = 60% of base rate of intramural course+ vac pay premium for students in excess of 25 = $80 per student
