State Community College. This spring
our campus will come alive with events,
activities, and new initiatives you won’t
want to miss.Wallace State is embarking on a new
set of ambitious goals to guide presi-
dential priorities and college growth
over the next five years. Having re-
cently achieved our five year goals in
just three years, the college has
adopted a new vision to be an interna-
tionally recognized learning college. In
the last three years Wallace State has
set itself apart as a national leader in
the delivery of quality educational pro-grams. Its exemplary models for teaching and learning have been the subject
nationwide of conferences on best practices in education, and our students are
achieving more than ever before.Among the goals established in 2003, advancing the integration of technology
throughout the campus was one of our top priorities. Today, the college has
115 Smart classrooms (80 percent of all classrooms), 1,121 computers and 35
computer labs which provide a student to computer ratio of approximately
4.8:1, Wi-Fi hotspots, a voiceover internet protocol (VOIP) phone system that
allows for instant email and emergency alerts to every phone on campus, and
a fiber optic infrastructure. The implementation of the best new technologies
continues to transform learning environments and promote learning excel-
lence.Our New Upward Bound program, a college preparatory program for under-privileged high school students, greater Adult Education offerings, including
an accelerated GED program, a Ready to Work program, and expanded ESL
offerings, as well as enhanced career services, ensure that we provide a full
range of opportunities for individuals in our community. A new focus on en-
rollment management will support student success across the spectrum from
recruitment and enrollment to graduation, transfer, or employment.Our students have the opportunity to take advantage of new programs and
partnerships, including a new Automotive Manufacturing Technology pro-
gram, which will train students for careers in the high-tech, high-paying auto-
motive industry, and the Surgical Tech program, just one of the many heath
care programs for which Wallace State is known. In addition to our longstand-
ing linkage partnerships, Wallace State has added partnerships with Calhoun,
Northeast, Alabama Southern, Faulkner and Northwest Shoals to offer health
care programs on those campuses.Wallace State now maintains off-campus centers at Hayden, Pennington,
Brewer, and Meek high schools, and offers dual enrollment opportunities at
Locust Fork, Cullman, Fairview, Good Hope, Holly Pond, St. Bernard,
Brewer, Falkville, Meek, and Addison. Our Fast Track Academy for career-
motivated high school students and University Center with Athens State are
models for the state. Most recently, the college has partnered with other com-
munity agencies to form Cullman Area Workforce Solutions (CAWS) to ad-
dress the area’s employment needs.As a result of aggressive leadership, partnerships, and steadfast commitment
to transparency and accountability, Wallace State’s grants-based funding has
doubled in the last three years, and the services we are able to offer to stu-
dents have likewise increased. Wallace State continues to grow to meet the
needs of those we serve. Our top priority will always be serving students and

Regional Basketball Tournament in February, the International Bazaar event
in March, Cultural Arts Week in April, basketball, softball and baseball

accommodations needed for Spring Semester. All students
wanting to utilize their accommodation for priority registration
must make the appointment and have documentation on file

to make the transition from high school or to a new career as
easy as possible for students. Orientation 103, Reading 083,
English 092 and 093, and Math 090 will now be found within

tution. All students who have earned a high school diploma or
GED are eligible for admission. In addition to an application
for admission, students are required to supply the College with
an official copy of their high school transcript or official copy of
their GED scores. Students transferring from another college
must submit an admissions application and an official copy of
their transcript(s) from each college they have attended. Tran-
sient students must submit a transient letter from their home
institution stating the courses they will be allowed to take in ad-
dition to an application for admission.Graduates from a non-accredited high school with a diploma
demonstrating successful completion of a course of study on
the secondary level based upon the Carnegie units required by
the state education agency at the time of the award (currently
24) and minimum ACT score of 16 or the equivalent SAT score
of 735 are eligible for admission. If the above requirements
are not met, the student must take a GED test.Special requirements may apply to International Students
seeking admission. Students must submit official transcripts,
an I-20 Form, TOEFL scores, declaration of responsibility
statement, proof of insurance, and all appropriate admissionsforms. Further information is available by contacting the Wal-

line.Accelerated high school students who have completed the
tenth grade, have a cumulative “B” average, and are recom-
mended by the local principal may enroll at Wallace State only
in postsecondary courses for which high school prerequisites
have been completed. Exceptions may apply for students doc-
umented as “gifted and talented” according to the standards in-
cluded in the State Plan for Exceptional Children and Youth.The Dual Enrollment/Dual Credit High School program allows
eligible high school students to enroll in college classes con-
currently with high school classes, either on the college cam-
pus or at the high school, and receive both high school and
college credit. The student must be in grade ten, eleven, or
twelve; have a “B” average; and obtain written approval of the
Principal and Superintendent.Non-Credit Students who enroll exclusively in non-credit

information carefully:APPLY EARLY- Students applying for financial aid should
apply at least two (2) months before the next semester begins.
Applying early will help ensure a timely response to federal
guidelines and allow for any unforeseen problems/situations
that might occur. Applying early will also help the student avoid
potential long lines or waits. It is the student’s responsibility to
follow up with the Financial Aid office to finalize funding.BOOKSTORE CHARGES - If Pell Awards exceed the amount
of tuition and fees owed, students may charge books and sup-
plies on their Pell accounts at the WSCC Bookstore. These
accounts will be open for charges beginning December 17.BALANCE CHECKS - Per federal guidelines, attendance must
be verified before balance checks can be distributed. Stu-
dents must attend ALL CLASSES before Pell and loan
funds will be distributed. Students’ balance checks will
not be processed until all holds are cleared.PLEASE NOTE: DISTANCE EDUCATION students are re-
sponsible for logging in and meeting orientation requirements
for all WebCT and video classes. Pell and loan funds will

WSCC Financial Aid Office requests that all students on private
funded scholarships or PACT funds contact the Financial Aid
Office three (3) weeks prior to registration to ensure that all pa-
perwork is complete.REMEMBER - Students must re-file for Pell Grants for every
academic year (Fall - Summer). Pell Grants are applicable for
two of the three semesters in any academic year. The F ree
Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available in the

To drop a course you have added, click the Click to Drop button to
