the Department of Primary Industries and
energy required
a auD100 million cleanup of radioactive contamination
resulting from British nuclear tests at Maralinga.
the
sheer scale of the task and the danger of radiation
poisoning combined to make this cleanup a unique
project management challenge.
gHD managed the
development of site infrastructure and the refurbishment
of Maralinga village, the collection and burial of radioactive
contaminated material and specialised treatment of
contaminated debris pits. as a result, in 2000
gHD won
the australian Institute of Project Management (aIPM)
inaugural national achievement award for excellence in
Project Management.
rMIt unIVersItY's VIetnaM cItY caMPus
following rMIt's appointment of gHD to project manage
the Learning resources centre in Hue, Vietnam, gHD fast
tracked the delivery of rMIt university's new campus in
Ho chi Minh city. the project covered two separate but
interrelated phases. the first phase involved renovations
of a french villa and existing buildings to establish the
university.
the second phase involved the building of an

MaYnILaD water serVIces Inc (MwsI), PHILIPPInes
gHD provided project management, design and contract
administration services through a three-year long-term
agreement for MwsI's extensive water and sewerage
network rehabilitation and expansion program. MwsI is
one of two water concessionaires for Metro Manila and
services almost seven million people. Project management
services included management of more than 60 contracts
including over 540 kilometres of pipelines, pumping
stations, treatment plants, warehouses and branch offices.
