Time Management Tips

Use a planner! Record all required activities as well as regularly scheduled activities. Find the best times to study and set up regular study hours. Use 00dd00time between classes. Take breaks when studying! Study the hardest subjects when you are most alert. Schedule exercise and relaxation periods. Plan rewards for completing studying. Avoid too much detail so that your schedule still has some flexibility. Make a To Do list each day. Budget time to prepare for each class and all exams (more than just the night before). Don00 get over involved! Break up big tasks into small ones. Don't get too comfortable. Sit (or even stand) so that you can remain awake and attentive. Sometimes, you'll have to say NO to friends and family so that your academic work can be completed. Learn how to do this without feeling guilty. Sleeping well is essential...don't sacrifice sleep or you may pay for it. Study difficult subjects first: When you are fresh, you can process information more quickly and save time as a result. Try to combine activities: Use the "Twofer" concept. If you are spending time at the laundromat, bring your psychology notes to study. If you are waiting in line for tickets to a concert, bring your biology flashcards to memorize. Courses like math and language consist of material that build on each other and need to be studied every day. Use daylight hours for studying.  Research indicates that each hour used for study during the day is equal to one and a half hours at night. If you are sleepy, take a nap!  Study when you are more alert. If you are hungry, then stop and eat a snack before studying. Find a schedule that works for you!
