Time Management for the Busy Tennis Coach In an age of conveniences there are many inconveniences. In an average lifespan you will spend: 006 months at traffic lights 001 year searching through desk clutter 008 months opening junk mail 002 years ringing people who are not in or are busy 001 hour a day in a car 0 7 hours a week As we get older management of our time becomes a more important skill in every profession.  The demands on our time get much greater with family and work commitments and at the same time there is a much greater need to earn more income because of mortgages and the costs involved in raising a family and running a business. The goal of good time management is to do more in less time leaving you with more time to do other things.  These other things may be fitting another lesson in during the day, investigating new markets, doing some up skilling activities or it may be finishing your work earlier so you can enjoy other aspects of your life such as family, golf, travel etc.  Either way doing more in less time is definitely beneficial . If you are an employee you will obviously increase your worth to your employer if the tasks that they set for you takes half the time for you to do than one of your peers!  Successful time management is doing a lot of little things well that lead to a big result. Here are some ideas that may help you: Time waster Tip 00The biggest time waster is looking for things. 9 Have a good filing system and a clean, neat work space 9 keep as much as you can on compute but obviously back it up regularly. 9 You should have one inbox and one task pad 9 Have one phone number and address book, so you know where all your contact details Your goal every day should be clean out your inbox and task pad 00Dealing with messages or inquires: Get back to the person straight away or deal with them immediately. Writing the message down, filing it, looking it up again and then calling or e-mailing again is a huge time waster. Along with the time management side of this it is much more professional if you respond quickly. 00Tasks: 9 If something can be done on the spot immediately, do it. 9 At the beginning of the day write down your tasks for the day on your task pad, allocate time to complete the tasks either in their entirety or individually. There is nothing more rewarding than a completed tasks list. 00Losing things 9 It usually costs a bit of money to replace items but probably more importantly it wastes your time looking for them and then replacing them. 9 Give everything their own special place. This includes staplers pens, enrolment forms, clipboards, keys etc and put them back when you have finished losing them. This is a must if you are sharing a work space with another person. There are many more little tips but hopefully these will help you start to identify what are the big time wasters in your workday and you can start doing more or working less!!
