Credit Union has unanimously
voted to appoint
Edward Leachman as the
new President & CEO.
Leachman had been serving
as Interim President & CEO
for White Crown for the
past two months.
I am fortunate to be able
to continue with the staff,
volunteers and members who have made this a great
place to work. As the new CEO I will take the opportunity
to continue to build on this solid foundation,
positioning White Crown as a unique alternative to the
big box financial institutions we find in today's market.
Our previous mergers showed us how important we
are to our members and that we provide services and
products to meet their varied needs. While banks move
in and out of markets, open and close branches, create
start-ups just to flip them to a multi-national corporation,
White Crown recognizes that they are not the
answer for the special people who are our members.
The credit union movement, while facing many
challenges, continues to show that there is a friendly
alternative to meeting people's financial needs. While
products are easily duplicated, the philosophy and the
focus of the movement is actually on the member, and
that is not readily copied. White Crown looks forward
to maintaining that philosophy irrespective ofits
growth.
I am optimistic about our potential for growth
and believe we will continue to address the demands
ofthe market place while providing a personalized
approach to service.

PHISHINGE-MAIL
Recognizing a
Phishing is an attempt by a scammer to get
sensitive information such as social security
number, date of birth, mother's maiden name,
account numbers, debit or credit card information
or passwords from a customer.
Many attempts to obtain this information are
through fraudulent e-mails. Phishing e-mail
messages usually claim a problem exists with the
customer's account, expresses the urgency ofa
response - sometimes threatening account termination
- and even puts a name with the e-mail
to make it seem legitimate.
For the customer's "convenience," a phishing
e-mail provides a link to a page where account
information can be updated or verified. In reality,
the link likely leads to a fraudulent web site that
will ask for sensitive information about the cus-
tomer.
Don't click on anything in e-mails! Always
sign in using bookmarked Web pages or type the
URL in yourself. Never sign in using a link provided
in an e-mail.
White Crown would never e-mail members
about a problem with an account, demand
account information we already possessed or
threaten account deactivation if a member
didn't comply.
Ifyou encounter what you think may be a
"phishing e-mail"you may contact the Federal
Trade Commission at spam@uce.gov.
Characteristics of a phishing scam:
00Greeting doesn't mention the customer's name.
00Writing reflects poor grammar & sentence construction.
00Implies a sense of urgency or demands immediate attention.
00Attempts to scare recipient to react quickly.
00Threatens account deactivation.
00Contains misspelled words.
00Entire body of e-mail is an image.
00Asks recipient to click on a link in the e-mail.
00Contains real company's logo.
00Uses fake name as the sender of the e-mail.
00Promises cash rewards for filling out an online survey.
