HELP DESK TECHNICIAN
(FULL TIME - PERMANENT)
Incumbent will resolve computer user concerns by answering questions about hardware/software problems within entire organization through telephone, computer, and in-person communication to assist in maintaining a smooth microcomputer facilities operation. Facilities include offices, presentation rooms, classrooms, three work facilities, and occasionally off-site locations.
Individual must excel in determining source of concern and source of error. Responsible to log and track requests, problems, production abends, hardware failures, and hardware and software changes and revisions. Ability to maximize computer system capabilities including: loading software, placing hardware into production, establishing connections, and testing computer components. Assist in visual presentation setup before meetings. Assist in the enforcement of computer network security.
Experience in fundamental operations of commonly used software, hardware, and other equipment including various types of dot matrix, ink-jet, and laser printers required. Knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office 2000, 2003, and XP required. Previous customer skills preferred. Alaska Native/American Indian preference in accordance with P.L. 93-638.
High School Diploma or GED required. Any combination and/or related experience will be considered. Valid Alaska Driver00 License required with acceptable driving record.
